I recently requested all my Spotify data (JSON) and was able to do some analysis on my favorite artists of the past year (June 2020-June 2021).

Here is my list of top 10 artists and (my listen count) of each for the past year. (Mostly various types of electronic music). If you don't like electronic, then you probably wouldn't like any of these..

1. The New Division (699) ~ 81,087 monthly listeners
2. Digitalism (459) ~ 839,755 monthly listeners
3. Bassnectar (406) ~ 1,518,288 monthly listeners
4. Boards of Canada (404) ~ 830,139 monthly listeners
5. FM Attack (369) ~ 125,485 monthly listeners
6. Kids of 88 (295) ~ 47,016 monthly listeners
7. Ulrich Schnauss (208) ~ 163,515 monthly listeners
8. Yppah (200) ~ 221,703 monthly listeners
9. Holy Ghost! (182) ~ 215,254 monthly listeners
10. Broken Bells (171) ~ 1,620,851 monthly listeners

Funny enough my #1 has least number of monthly listeners and my #10 has the most :) But I'm curious to see if anyone else likes these artists!

How do you get the json data?

You can request to download your data by:
Login to Spotify on Web => Settings => Privacy Settings => Download Your Data

Request

For me it took ~ 3 days to get an email to download a zip. But it contains
your Streaming History of past year and a bunch of other things. (I just
wrote a simple JS program to tally all the counts by artist / song of the StreamingHistory.json)

I've never heard of any of them.

Ya not too surprised! But give a listen if you'd like. These would be a few
